With a property of this age, problems do occur from time to time. Connaught Mews being a grade II listed building does sometimes require maintenance. We aim to ensure that problems are dealt with as quickly as possible before they get out of hand. Please let us know as soon as possible if you find a problem. January 2014 
  • A very Happy New Year to one and all.
  • The 2014 works list and budget have been prepared.
  • The service charge letters are being prepared.
  • Site inspection with Redwoods.
  • The garden doors to all three Houses have been shaved and repainted, due to swollen wood preventing the doors from shutting.
  • Artillery House - basement door lock and closing mechanism has been fixed.
  • Barbara Crawford, James Lewis, David Shaw and Milton Jolliff have all recently joined the Mews Committee, and may be contacted by using the cmse18@hotmail.com email address.
  • All four are permanent residents of the Mews, and intend to be fairly hand-on in terms of carrying out site inspections and progress chasing outstanding jobs and the like
  • February 2014 
  • Artillery House - a broken down pipe at the front of the building has been repaired.
  • Lantern House - two door stops on the first floor have been replaced.
  • Lantern and Nightingale Houses - Conifers at the side and back of both Houses are due to be cut.
  • Lantern House - a tree in front of the House is due to be cut back.
  • The garden doors to all three Houses have had their locks eased.
  • Lantern House - decking area at the rear of the House has been cleaned.
  • Lantern House - front door has been planed and repainted.
  • Lantern and Nightingale Houses - the drains on the flat roof have been both cleared and cleaned.
  • Lantern and Nightingale Houses - Conifers at the side and back of both Houses have been trimmed, and one tree has been removed from between the two Houses.
  • Estate - the quarterly check on all internal and external lights has been carried out, including emergency lighting.
  • Estate - engineers attended to a call-out and carried out a repair to the electronic gate.
  • March 2014 
  • A larger amount of builders waste has been dumped in the Nightingale Bin area. This will be removed and the residents responsible charged for clearing the area.
  • Please note that if you are having building work done it is your responsibility to arrange for the removal of all waste and if necessary a skip should be arranged. However please let us know if you will be hiring a skip and remember to be considerate to other residents.
  • All drains and gullies cleared.
  • Dead leaves cleared from all Spanish sword plans in the grounds.
  • Weekly communal gardening carried out.
  • Half yearly cleaning of all internal and external communal windows carried out.
  • April 2014 
  • All drains and gullies cleared.
  • Furniture left in front of the Nightingale House broken up and removed.
  • Batteries replaced in fire exit signs.
  • Artillery House front door bolt adjusted.
  • Soil pipe at the rear of Artillery House repaired and replaced.
  • 2 self-rooted trees at the rear of Nightingale House removed as they were damaging the boundary wall.
  • Gardens maintenance and common parts cleaning carried out.
  • Blocked sewage drain in basement of Nightingale House rodded clear.
  • Site inspection carried out - the only area identified that required attention was the communal BBQ area at the side of Lantern House.
  • May 2014 
  • All drains and gullies cleared.
  • Paving slabs jet-washed at rear of both Lantern and Artillery Houses.
  • Quarterly check on all internal, external and emergency lighting carried out and replacements made as necessary.
  • Roof drains cleared on both Lantern and Nightingale Houses.
  • Build-up of leaves at the rear of Artillery House cleared.
  • Gardens maintenance and common parts cleaning carried out.
  • Basement carpet in Nightingale House replaced.
  • June 2014 
  • All drains and gullies cleared.
  • Gardens maintenance and common parts cleaning carried out.
  • Major repairs carried out to bathroom waste drainage system for Nightingale House.
  • Painting carried out on the front and left side of Artillery House and front side of Nightingale House.
  • July 2014 
  • All drains and gullies cleared.
  • Gardens maintenance and common parts cleaning carried out.
  • External bulb replaced outside Nightingale House.
  • Concrete slabs laid to replace broken decking area at the rear of Lantern House.
  • Weed killer applied to all pathways and gullies.
  • Damage made to 17 Lantern House repaired after roof leak.
  • New wooden posts supplied and fitted in the pergola at the rear of Lantern House.
  • Broken soil pipe at the rear of Lantern House supplied and fitted.
  • Water butts at the rear of Nightingale House bin area moved.
  • Anti-slip tape supplied and fitted on stone steps at the rear of Nightingale House.
  • New motor and radar sensors (required by legislation to detect movement) supplied and fitted to main gate.
  • New trellis fencing has been erected at the rear of Lantern House.
  • New willow fencing has been erected by the Nightingale bin store. This will shield the new bike store that will be erected during w/c 18th August.
  • External painting has been completed on the right hand side of Nightingale House.
